Thread: Should I take epidural?

    Should I take epidural?

I have low threshold for pain and Iím considering taking epidural. During my last pregnancy when I took epidural I had a bad headache and non-stop vomiting. I donít want the same side effects. Should I take epidural again?

I think it depends on how long your labor will be.

I read that Epi can make the baby groggy and it will make it difficult to breastfeed him.

If you have a low threshold for pain then probably you should go for epidural.

My birth plan is laughing gas, then pethidine, then epidural. You can try the same.

I took my Epi even before my contractions started. There was no pain and there were no side effects. If you opt for Epi, then take it right from the start. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

I wonder if I’ll need Epi or not. Can I ask, how does contraction feel like?

I also didn’t take Epi because my labor is short so there was no need for Epi. If your labor is long, however, it’s better to take Epi.

I didn’t take Epi because I wanted to experience the pain of childbirth even though I had a low threshold for pain.

At 2cm, there is a slight crampy feeling. At 4cm, it’s still bearable with a menstrual crampy feeling. At 6cm, there is very intense pain similar to having menstruation and diarrhea at the same time. At 8cm, there are sharp stabbing pains. Once you’re past 8cm, you’re free.
